What is COVID-19?
The novel coronaviruses belong to the β-genus. COVID-19 is a contagious acute respiratory disease. Humans are generally susceptible to it. Currently, patients infected with the novel coronavirus are the main source of infection. Asymptomatically infected individuals may also be a source of infection. Based on current epidemiologic research, the incubation period is 1 to 14 days, usually 3 to 7 days. The main signs include fever, fatigue, and dry cough. In some cases, there is a stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, muscle aches, and diarrhea.
When to apply the Corona test?
If you have the impression that you may have a Corona infection, then you should choose the Corona antibody test to gain certainty. It is important that the test is done no earlier than 14 days after the onset of symptoms, as corona antibodies cannot be detected immediately in the blood.
Are Corona self-tests all suitable as proof of health?
Corona rapid tests are not suitable for proof of health, for example for travel. The reason for this is the somewhat higher susceptibility to errors. Only PCR tests performed by trained personnel can serve as proof of health. According to § 3 of the Coronavirus Entry Regulation, “A medical certificate or a test result regarding the absence of infection with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 shall be considered as proof. The proof according to sentence 1 shall be provided on paper or in an electronic document […].”
